Magic Vs. Thunder: OKC Maintains Double-Digit Lead Over Orlando

Stay connected with SB Nation

It's been a steady game for the Oklahoma City Thunder, as they've built their lead consistently every quarter over Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic. After a five-point first quarter lead and a 13-point halftime lead, the Thunder again piled on, and after three quarters, they lead the Magic by 18, 81-63, behind 18 points from Kevin Durant to go along with six assists and five rebounds.

The real story of this game, however, has been the disparity in scoring off the bench. Led by James Harden, who should really be starting over Thabo Sefolosha, the Thunder's bench have scored 35 points in three quarters compared to just 14 off the pine of the Magic. Glen Davis has eight points, by rights performing the duties expected of him after general manager Otis Smith traded Brandon Bass for him in the offseason, but Big Baby has gotten no help from anyone else.

With an 18-point lead at home, it would be shocking to see the Thunder squander this lead, and it looks as if they will be starting their season 1-0, with 65 games to play.
