Stay connected with SB Nation

Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 28 points as the Los Angeles Lakers easily handled the New York Knicks on Thursday night, 99-82. This one was all Los Angeles as the Lakers took the lead into halftime, avoided a small slip-up in the third quarter, and finished strong over the final 12 minutes to ensure the comfortable win.

Bryant converted 10-of-17 shots on the night, as well as 7-of-10 from the charity stripe, to pace the Lakers on the offensive end. He added six assists and four rebounds, as well, in the win. Pau Gasol scored 16 points to compliment Bryant, with Steve Blake adding 11 off the bench and Josh McRoberts joining them in double-figures with 10. Gasol finished with a team-high 10 rebounds, as well.

Carmelo Anthony nearly matched Bryant's performance, scoring 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting. But Anthony didn't get much help, with only two other Knicks finishing in double-figures on the night. Amare Stoudemire added 15 points on 4-of-17 shooting, with Tyson Chandler 13 points. Chandler grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds in the loss to finish with a double-double.
