Greg Oden Signs One-Year, $8.9 Million Deal With Portland Trailblazers, Agent Confirms

Greg Oden will be a member of the Portland Trailblazers for one more season. The often-injured center will sign the one-year, $8.9 million qualifying offer to stay with the Blazers next season, agent Bill Duffy confirmed to Jason Quick of the Oregonian. Oden will become an unrestricted free agent next season.

Oden was a restricted free agent and could have received some interest from other teams, but most were scared away due to his injury history. That left him with the $8.9 million qualifying offer, which is that high because he was a former No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.

Oden has played in 82 of a possible 328 games in his career due to several knee injuries. When he has played, he has been effective, posting 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds in 23 minutes of action. The Blazers are not expecting him to be ready to play until January at the earliest.
