The Charlotte Bobcats continue to field offers for Gerald Wallace after the Portland Trail Blazers backed out of a dealthat would have sent him to the Pacific Northwest. The latest rumor involves the Houston Rockets, according to CBS Sports' Ken Berger.
Sources say Bobcats turned to Houston and Cleveland for Gerald Wallace after Blazers talks broke down. Cleveland a no-go. Rockets "chomping for a deal," another source says. Battier could be part of Wallace deal, but feeling among execs is Wallace stays.
The Rockets have been active in general at the trade deadline. They talked to the Timberwolves about acquiring Jonny Flynn, and continue to posture with the Bulls about trading away Courtney Lee. In addition, they talked to the Blazers about trading for Marcus Camby, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
A deal that WAS discussed today but I'm now told is unlikely to happen featured Houston's Aaron Brooks and Battier to Portland for Camby
Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is always prominent around this time of year. It remains to be seen if he manages to pull anything off.
