The Miami's Heat's five-game losing streak, coupled with the admission by coach Erik Spoelstra that the players were crying in the locker room following last Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bulls, has been overanalyzed to death. But of course, as is the case with anything else in the NBA, no conversation is complete until Charles Barkley has the last word.
In typical fashion, he did not hold back his criticism. Pointing to Dwyane Wade's sarcastic comment that the world is better with the Heat losing, Barkley, during the TNT pregame show, went at his T-Mobile pal and his teammates with some sharp criticism in a soliloquy that ended with the following:
"Quit bitching and whining like a little girl."
It's not nearly as passionate or hard-hitting as Chris Webber's rant earlier in the week, but it does at least get the point across. There's been a lot of backlash against the sexism/homophobia of similar statements, but as usual, Barkley will likely avoid all of that because he is Charles Barkley. The language of the statement may be a bit offensive, but the spirit is certainly one shared by many other NBA fans and analysts.
UPDATE: Video of Barkley's rant after the jump.
