Thunder Vs. Heat: Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Triumph As Miami's Big Three Struggle

Kevin Durant poured in 29 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder rocked the Miami Heat 96-85 in South Beach. Miami's Big Three scored plenty of points -- 61 in all -- but shot poorly from the field as Oklahoma City's defense forced tough jumpers. LeBron James scored just 19 points on 8-21 shooting. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh each tallied 21, but Bosh shot just 6-17 and Wade 7-21. Durant took 21 field goal attempts, just like LeBron and Wade. But Durantula hit 12 of them, as James had trouble figuring out how best to handle the reigning scoring champ.

Wade earned some modicum of respect, though, with one of the best in-game dunks you'll see. It came over old rival and new Thunderer Kendrick Perkins, and it was glorious.

That is was chased with a Cabbage Patch is simply icing.

But Perk, of course, got the last laugh. While he didn't produce much and fouled out early, he's set a certain tone on defense that has Serge Ibaka and others committed to make the right play; even though this is only his second in OKC blue, Perkins was barking at Ibaka on a particularly defensive play. This team desperately needed a boost in defensive intensity, and there are few more intense than Perk. One can only dream of how far Perkins can take Durant, Russell Westbrook and the gang.
