Kevin Garnett Invites Alvin Gentry To The Celtics' Playoff Series

Kevin Garnett and the Phoenix Suns don't really get along. There was that whole ball-busting episode in Phoenix earlier this season, followed by comments from Suns coach Alvin Gentry that Garnett was a dirty player. Garnett shredded Channing Frye and the Suns on Wednesday in Boston, and got hit with a technical late for barking at Gentry.

Via Zach Lowe, Garnett explains to the media what he and Gentry were discussing.

"Oh, Alvin Gentry was asking me for tickets for the first round of the playoffs and I told him I'd hook him up," Garnett said.

The turn toward goofy humor for Garnett is preferred to that embarrassing episode earlier this season in which KG allegedly told Charlie Villanueva he looks like a cancer patient. (Even more embarrassing, of course, is that Garnett tried to pass it off as if he called Charlie V. a cancer to his team.) The fact that Kevin Garnett has a rivalry -- or beef, at least -- with the Phoenix Suns, the least controversial or chirpy team in the entire NBA, is some sort of amazing. Only Garnett could feud with Wally Szczerbiak, Charlie Villanueva and the Phoenix Suns.
