NBA Hall-of-Famer Dominique Wilkins was attacked in Philips Arena following Wednesday's Hawks-Magic game.
Rashan S. Michel punched Nique in the chest and attacked a security guard before being arrested and charged with one count of simple battery.
"The fan was promptly arrested and was taken into custody by the Atlanta Police Department," Hawks spokesman Arthur Triche said in a statement to the AJC. "At this time the Hawks have no additional information or comment regarding this situation."
According to one report, Nique got in a few good shots as well before the fracas was broken up.
Here's where it gets weird. Michel told police he was owed money for suits that Wilkins purchased several years ago.
Here's where it gets weirder. Michel is a former NBA referee.
Wilkins was not injured in the attack. Neither was his suit.
Keep an eye on SB Nation Atlanta for any updates, weird or not.
