Perhaps lost in the aftermath of the Miami Heat's triumph over the Boston Celtics is LeBron James' apology for the way The Decision went down. LeBron has largely deflected criticism about his one-hour TV special to announce he would leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in South Beach. On Wednesday, with the Celtics vanquished, LeBron made amends.
The way it panned out with all the friends and family and fans back home, I apologize for the way it happened. ... As much as I loved my teammates back in Cleveland, as much as I loved home, I knew I couldn't do it by myself against that team.
Those quotes (thanks to WFNY for collating them) include both an apology to Cleveland and some dap for the fallen Celtics. And it's a nice (and sincere) excuse to push going forward, that Boston made him do it. It's true! The Celtics were the Superteam that forced all other Superteams to be created.
