America: Do You Believe In The 'Kardashian Law'?

A secret pleasure of covering NBA basketball is that because the game is global, we sometimes hear from or run into the wonderful foreign press. All-Star Weekend is a particular highlight, but the international media all takes special interest in the NBA Finals.

The Beijing Mirror News has a particularly juicy angle heading into the championship series between the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat. And yes, it is all about Kim Kardashian.

An email from Mirror News reporter Sally, in full:

Hi,

Greeting from Beijing.
I am Sally of Beijing Mirror News, writing to enquiry about Kardashian Law that dating with Kardashian sisters guarantees a champion. Please help.
Is this law very famous in America? When did this saying come into being?
What's American's attitudes towards this? How do you think of this phenomenon?
Do you think Heat will win the championship since James had relationship with Kardashian?
Looking forward to your reply. Thanks.
Best regards,

Sally

I'm actually not familiar with the Kardashian Law, and Google is no help. (Seriously, all of the results for "Kardashian Law" have to do with a caemo on Law & Order by Khloe.) I assume the Kardashian Law exists to remind us that Reggie Bush won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints while dating Kim Kardashian, and that Lamar Odom won a title with the Los Angeles Lakers while dating Khloe Kardashian.

But wait, Khloe is still married to Lamar, and the Lakers are out. Kim is marrying Kris Humphries, who plays for the New Jersey Nets, who are sadly not in the NBA Finals. Where's the Finals tie-in?

Do you think Heat will win the championship since James had relationship with Kardashian?

Oh, I guess at one point a reviled gossip site alleged LeBron James was dating Kim Kardashian. LeBron forcefully denied the rumors.

So what do you think, America? Let's help the very pleasant and enterprising Sally out. What's your attitude toward the Kardashian Law?
