Game 1 of the 2011 NBA Finals are underway, and there are already some interesting matchups to talk about in the opening minutes. Shawn Marion was though to be the guy who would be guarding LeBron James for most of the series - and he very well might be - but he was guarding Dwyane Wade on the first possession. On the other end, Joel Anthony is guarding Dirk Nowitzki.
The Heat recognized the mismatch they were given instantly, with DeSean Stevenson guarding LeBron James, and James posted up on the second possession, making his shot. However, on the next possession, James missed a similar, though significantly more difficult turnaround jump shot. Perhaps the Mavs think LeBron is unguardable, and have decided that shutting down Wade is a higher priority.
