The second quarter has started with a bit of an interesting tempo battle between the two teams. The Dallas Mavericks have small, quick guards J.J. Berea and Jason Terry on the floor, while the Miami Heat have Dwyane Wade on the bench and Mike Miller on the floor. As a result, the Mavericks are trying to push the tempo while the Miami Heat are trying to slow it up. Miller hit a three point shot, but early on, the Mavs are winning this battle.
Dirk Nowitzki has continued to be average, but Berea and Terry are doing some damage. Their size and reckless playing style has been a bit of a hindrance, as they have missed what appeared to be makable layups on a couple of occasions, but attacking the basket with their quick guards has been a more effective offense than anything else the Mavericks have tried to this point.
