You know a sports story is a big deal when it starts to pop up on the broader cultural radar, and on that one, LeBron James definitely passes the acid test. Last night, even Stephen Colbert opened his show with a bit on LeBron and the Miami Heat. And yeah, it was just as awesome as you'd expect. Because let's face it, as Colbert said Monday, America is the LeBron James of the world.

("Taking our talents to Libya?").

Video is after the jump.

In case you can't watch at work, this was the highlight... "Everyone knew that they were destined to win," Colbert deadpans, talking about the Miami Heat. "And personally, I am offended that they were forced to prove it by playing basketball. But of course, LeBron handled it with class."

Back to Colbert: "Like they say, it's not whether you win or lose, but how you disparage the pathetic lives of the little people who make it possible for you have to a career bouncing an inflatable ball."

Perfect.
