Now that the NBA lockout is officially here, it's time for people to get all sanctimonious about how a bunch of guys who already make millions playing a game can somehow ask for more money while important people like teachers and firemen make so little money. I probably don't need to tell you why that statement is ridiculous, but in case I do: the players are not striking; they are being locked out by billionaires who want their game to profit.
One such person who feels like getting sanctimonious is this reporter, who had the gall to ask David Stern and Adam Silver about whether NBA players could benefit from a "trip to the sausage-making plant."
Here's a transcript of the full question:
Amid the specifics we're hearing -- BRI percentage, etc -- I just want to ask a big-picture question. Nothing implied, just want your opinion. Have the players forgotten what it means to earn $3 million, $4 million a year, and perhaps would benefit from a trip to the sausage-making plant or GM plant?
Thankfully, Stern didn't take the bait and said the dollars were being "generated by the system." Maybe the solution here is for Kobe Bryant and Jerry Buss to hold hands as they collect bushels of corn from the fields.

Billionaires are locking out millionaires..and not only are teachers and firemen (who play a much more important vital part to society) paid less, many have been laid off or lost their jobs altogether. They dont get to play the lockout game. They dont have a hundred grand to a million sitting in the bank. The players will be back making ridiculous salaries, while teachers and fireman with 10-20 yrs in will be lucky to find an entry level job making less money..Dont even bring up the comparisons here writer.

locked out
The players didnt have to be locked out..they play 80+ basketball games making more money than most dream of in this world..i dont want to hear they were locked out. Its all about 1 group making more than the other which are called egos..Less money would only hurt spending habits that arent needed to live. They would function ine in a $100,000 home. But its an image they have to keep up. So dont say they were locked out when they couldve done something. Like MAKE LESS MONEY LIKE THE REST OF US!! I could care less if the NBA or NFL return. Im sitting here on disability and they all want the better half of the pie..screw them!
