Jason Terry Disses Chris Bosh Heat Game-Winner Over Mavericks, Again Lacks Self-Awareness

In summarizing the 2011 NBA Playoffs early Monday, we noted the lack of sparkle in Chris Bosh's Game 3 winner for the Miami Heat, a standard open 18-foot baseline jumper off of a deft pass from LeBron James. In case you for some reason thought the shot was spectacular, Dallas Mavericks critic Jason Terry wants you to know it was not. From the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Ira Winderman:

Jason Terry, on Chris Bosh's Game 3 winning shot: "Juwan Howard could have made that shot."

Sure, Juwan could have made it. What about Jason Terry? Could he have made that shot? Based on his fourth quarter performance in the Finals, perhaps not.

Star-divide

Terry was 0-4 in the fourth quarter of Game 3, and for the Finals is 3-12 in the fourth. All three makes came in Game 2, which -- surprise -- Dallas won. The Mavs have lost two close games against the Heat because while Chris Bosh is hitting shots Juwan Howard can make, Jason Terry is not hitting shots Jalen Rose (wearing a three-piece suit and eating a tuna roll) could make. Right?

No, that's not true either. The difference between Bosh's make and Terry's misses is that Bosh is springing free on offense, while JET can't shake perhaps the most talented perimeter defender in the NBA in LeBron. Juwan hits that shot because defenses ignore him. Bosh hit it because he worked hard off of the ball and used a bloody good screen from Udonis Haslem. When Terry starts getting and hitting open looks, I'll take his critiques more seriously.
