Isiah Thomas A Candidate, But Not Top Candidate For Detroit Pistons Head Coach Job

Believe it or not, Isiah Thomas - the Isiah Thomas - is a candidate for the vacant head coach position at the Detroit Pistons. I don't have regular contact with droves of Pistons fans, but I assume that, while they still consider Thomas a legendary player, they don't want him anywhere near the bench. Regardless, Thomas is a candidate, but fear not! He's not the top candidate, or so says Chris Broussard of ESPN.

Isiah Thomas on Pistons' list of coaching candidates, sources say. Not top candidate; on list w/Mike Woodson, Kelvin Sampson, Bill Laimbeer.less than a minute ago via Echofon Favorite Retweet Reply

That's just an awesome list of coaching candidates. Coaching skill aside, the histories and personalities of Kelvin Sampson, Bill Laimbeer and Isiah Thomas make this the best head coach saga ever. Pistons fans might not be thrilled, but neutral journalists and bloggers are salivating at the thought of writing about an NBA team coached by Thomas or Laimbeer, and Sampson isn't a bad consolation prize.

These men are fighting to replace John Kuester, who was fired after two rough years in charge in Detroit. For more on the Pistons' coaching search, visit Detroit Bad Boys and SB Nation Detroit.
