From the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, July 31, 2001:
The Sonics yesterday turned their starting center job over to Calvin Booth, signing the 6-foot-11 restricted free agent, who finished last season with Dallas, to an offer sheet.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported today that the offer was for six years and $34 million. [...]
"I wouldn't compare him to Ichiro, but nobody had heard of him, either," Sonics coach Nate McMillan said last night. "We're young. We plan to play to win."
Booth averaged about 3 points and 2 rebounds a game over the life of the contract.
