In 2009, the Minnesota Timberwolves signed coach Kurt Rambis to a four-year, $8 million deal.
Rambis was fired after two seasons, leaving the moribund Wolves to eat $4 million in salary. The Wolves are one of the least lucrative NBA franchises.
