New Atlanta Hawks Owner Alex Meruelo's Secret? He Loves Dessert

Picture_81_medium

New Atlanta Hawks owner Alex Meruelo gave his introductory press conference just now, even though he couldn't talk about the details of the sale, the arena, the team, the players or his new co-workers because of the NBA lockout and the sale itself not being finalized. Really, all he could do was sweat a lot and make bold proclamations about how he wants the Hawks to sell out every game (bwahahah) and win a title (somehow less insane than selling out every game).

At one point, due to there being too many tough questions, Hawks TV play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun jumped in and asked Meruelo to reveal his biggest secret. Meruelo's answer?

"I love dessert," he said. "What can I say? I love dessert."

Sweet secret, bro. Then again, would you expect anything else from a man who made his money by creating a pizza joint.

The real shame here, though, is that no reporter could follow up and ask Meruelo whether any of his new players or co-workers also love dessert. This is the true crime of the NBA lockout.
