Madison Square Garden is seeing nearly $1 billion in renovations this offseason. Among the changes, reports the New York Post's Marc Berman, is the removal of the center court players' tunnel made famous by Willis Reed, who hobbled out of the tunnel in 1970 Finals and thus become the benchmark by which all future hobbled players would be rated against.
More interesting is what will replace the midcourt tunnel as the players' court entrance.
The Knicks instead will enter the court from the corner, and Dolan will try to create a new tradition, as the players have to pass through the plush Delta Sky360Club, frequented only by elite season-ticket holders. Patrons there can watch the Knicks or Rangers take the stage through windows.
Someday, we'll be able to simply host NBA games in these people's foyers.
