Hornets Vs. Nuggets: Carl Landry, Chris Kaman Lead New Orleans In Road Upset

The Denver Nuggets suffered their first home loss of the season to the New Orleans Hornets on Monday.

The New Orleans Hornets are a bad team; there's no disputing that. But the team's frontcourt is solid enough that when it clicks and New Orleans can get just enough shooting from its guards and wings, good things can happen. That's exactly what went down as the Hornets defeated the Denver Nuggets 94-81 at the Pepsi Center on Monday.

Carl Landry produced 21 points and Chris Kaman added 20 for New Orleans. The Hornets held the Nuggets to 40 percent shooting from the field and managed to squeeze out six made threes, three from Marco Belinelli, who scored 19. Ty Lawson was kept at bay with 15 points and three assists, and Nene had just nine points against New Orleans' frontline.

It marked Denver's first loss at home, and was a rare occasion when the Nuggets were forced to play the opponents' style as the Hornets were successful in turning into a grinding affair. Denver is now 6-4 on the season, while the Hornets are 3-6.

In other action:

Raptors 97, Timberwolves 87: If Kevin Love isn't pouring in points, the Wolves just aren't winning. Love shot just 3-16 from the field as Amir Johnson held him in check while racking up 19 and 11 of his own in the Toronto win. Derrick Williams had a good game off of the bench for Minnesota (13 points, eight rebounds).

Hawks 106, Nets 101: Atlanta squeaked by New Jersey in a battle of offensive firepower on Monday. The Hawks had three starters break the 20-point barrier (Josh Smith, Joe Johnson and Jeff Teague) while the Nets relied on 14 assists from Deron Williams and sharp deep shooting from Anthony Morrow and MarShon Brooks (7-12 combined on three-pointers).
