Derrick Rose's Turf Toe Injury Will Keep Him Out Of Lineup Against Wizards

Stay connected with SB Nation

Derrick Rose will miss the Chicago Bulls' Wednesday night matchup with the Washington Wizards after coming down with turf toe. With Wednesday night marking the third time the Bulls have taken the court in three days, along with Rose's condition worsening overnight, Chicago head coach Tom Thibodeau made the decision to rest his ailing star.

The news comes from Michael Lee, who also adds the Bulls will be missing Rip Hamilton.

While it sounds run-of-the-mill, turf toe is, in fact, a dreadfully painful injury. While there's been no indication of the severity of Rose's case, the injury could keep a player out of action for a significat amount of time, depending on the degree, However, this appears to be a case of the Bulls resting Rose after his foot stiffened up over night, giving him a day off at the back-end of a rough stretch.

Wednesday night's matchup is also Wizards, so ... yeah.
