Danilo Gallinari Signs Four Year, $42 Million Contract Extension With Nuggets

Wednesday afternoon, Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari signed a four-year, 42 million contract that will keep him in Denver for the foreseeable future, and keep the Nuggets on the rise.

Jan 25, 2012 - Danilo Gallinari was looked upon as the consolation prize when the Nuggets parted ways with Carmelo Anthony last winter, but twelve months later, he's one of the most underrated players in the league. And the Nuggets want to keep him around for a few more years.

According to Nuggets beat writer Benjamin Hochman, with the deadline to extend players looming at midnight Wednesday, the Nuggets inked Gallinari to a four year, $42 million contract, making him not only one of the most underrated scorers in the NBA, but one of the more affordable, at least relative to some of the other stars from the 2008 draft class.

For Gallo, it's a deal that pays him slightly more money than Andrea Bargnani got from Toronto (albeit with one less year), and keeps him in a good situation, with a young, fast-paced offense and an adoring fanbase. He's averaging 17 points-per-game and shooting 46 percent from the field for the Nuggets this year, and at 12-5, Denver's got one of the most underrated teams in the league. So the Nuggets' future was bright before, and Wednesday afternoon, it got a little brighter.
