Dwyane Wade was on the court, going through a battery of drills in an effort to test his sprained ankle ahead of Wednesday night's matchup with the Detroit Pistons. And though Wade appeared to respond to the workout well, he will miss Wednesday's game, according to head coach Erik Spoelstra.
The news comes from Ira Winderman of the Orlando Sentinel.

However, the news isn't all bad. Winderman watched Wade go through workouts, and had the following observations to pass along.
Dwyane Wade now on the court shooting and moving very well, very well. He looks, well, ready.— Ira Winderman (@IraHeatBeat) January 25, 2012
Dwyane Wade now going through hard cuts with assistant coach David Fizdale. Not a doctor, but no evidence of any ankle issue right now.— Ira Winderman (@IraHeatBeat) January 25, 2012
If one were to guess, it would seem Wade is close to returning. The Heat are taking a cautious approach to his return and may be waiting to see how he responds to strenuous workouts in the meantime.
