The Knicks announced on Friday that Carmelo Anthony will miss Friday's nationally televised game against the Miami Heat, as well as Saturday night's game at Houston. This is not surprising. Carmelo's been battling nagging injuries for practically the entire season, and the past few games he's looked like he's about to have a heart attack on the court. Meanwhile, Dwyane Wade is sitting out for the Heat tonight, robbing ESPN's prime time matchup of even more sizzle.
So yeah, this is just your regularly-scheduled reminder that the NBA's 66-game schedule this year is COMPLETELY INSANE. Like, "Paul Allen crashing helicopters in Antartica" levels of psychosis. Although in fairness to the NBA, nobody could have seen this coming.
(Wait wait, you did think players might be out of shape after a six month lockout? Seriously? You thought players could look rusty practicing once every two weeks? And they might get injured trying to play four or five games every seven days? ... Come on, don't be crazy.)
