Hornets sharpshooter Eric Gordon continues to battle injuries as training camp opens in New Orleans.

New Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon will participate in a limited role during training camp, the team announced today on its website. A sore right knee is the culprit for Gordon, who continues to recover from surgery last season.

Gordon played in nine games near the end of last year's lockout-shortened season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on said right knee. In those nine games, he averaged over 34 minutes per game and scored 20.6 points on 45% shooting.

Despite the recent surgery, the Phoenix Suns offered the restricted free agent a four-year, $58 million contract in the offseason, which the Hornets matched to keep Gordon in New Orleans.

The 6'3, fifth-year guard downplayed the sore knee at today's media day, however. "Just a little aggravation right now and I'm not very concerned,'' Gordon was quoted as saying by Nola.com. "It's just something that you hate to deal with at this point and time. But at the same time, I'm looking forward to getting ready and progressing during camp.''
