Three games begin the NBA regular season, featuring last year's champions, the Miami Heat, and a team many think will win this year's title, the Los Angeles Lakers with Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard.
The NBA season tips off Tuesday night, with three games, including two marquee nationally broadcast matchups featuring the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers.
The first game of the year is actually one of the worst matchups - the Washington Wizards without John Wall will head to Cleveland to play the Cavaliers - but TNT's coverage of tipoff features two majorly interesting showdowns. First up, the NBA Champions take the court, as the Miami Heat receive their championship rings and lift their banner after winning the NBA Finals last season. New acquisition Ray Allen will sit and watch as they celebrate last year's win, but he'll be with the Heat as they face his old team, the Boston Celtics, who pushed Miami to seven games in last year's Eastern Conference Finals. Then, the Lakers play their first game with Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, part of a revamped squad many think is the only team that can keep Miami from repeating. They'll take on the Dallas Mavericks, who will try to stay afloat while Dirk Nowitzki recovers from knee surgery.
Here's a full look at Tuesday's action:
Washington vs. Cleveland, 7 p.m., FSN-Ohio, CSN Washington
Boston vs. Miami, 8 p.m., TNT
Dallas vs. Los Angeles Lakers, 10:30 p.m., TNT
