According to a tweet from Beto Duran, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant says he's 85 percent sure he will play in the Lakers' season opener against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. He first has to see how his injured foot reacts after the team's shootaround, but he did do a lot of running this morning.

Bryant injured his foot in a preseason game against the Sacramento Kings after stepping on a teammate's foot.

The Lakers haven't been able to get the cohesion they had hoped for with new players all throughout the roster still learning how to play with each other. Bryant missing the opener would not be a good start to building the chemistry needed to chase the championship the team sees in its sights.

The Lakers' health is a major concern heading into the season. Bryant and Steve Nash aren't the youngsters they once were, and Dwight Howard is still recovering from back surgery. Bryant's return is paramount to seeing if the Lakers can start the season strong after a winless preseason.
