Andrew Bynum injury update: 76ers to be cautious, no return date set

Andrew Bynum has begun doing some drills, but the Philadelphia 76ers announced that there's no schedule for their new star center's return.

The Sixers are being especially cautious with the knee in hopes that Bynum's issue doesn't become a persistent one. As a result, they won't set a timetable for his debut with the team. The 25-year-old hasn't participated any of the team's preseason games due to a bone bruise on his right knee. He began practicing, but had to stop after experiencing discomfort in the knee.

The team is prepared to start the season Wednesday night with Lavoy Allen as the starting center, with Spencer Hawes and possibly Kwame Brown filling in as backups. Although the team has looked good in the preseason without Bynum, winning six of seven games, but the big man acquired in the Dwight Howard trade is expected to be extremely important for the team's hopes of contending for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
