The No. 1 draft pick Davis was solid from the line, but Tim Duncan and the Spurs prevailed on Wednesday night.
Davis shot 6-12 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds, and was also 9-9 from the free throw line on the night. But across from the rookie No. 1 draft pick was Tim Duncan, the top pick from 16 years ago. Duncan was 10-15 from the floor, scoring 24 points and pulling down 11 rebounds to help the Spurs earn a season-opening win.
Tony Parker increased his load with fellow veteran Manu Ginobili sidelined. Parker scored 23 points in 35 minutes, and also dished six assists. Kawhi Leonard added 19 points and seven rebounds for San Antonio, who outscored the Hornets 56-45 in the second half.
