After falling behind in the first half, the Boston Celtics were unable to complete a comeback against Turkish-based Fenerbahce Ulker, falling to the club in their exhibition game on Friday afternoon, 97-91, in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Celtics started familiar faces in Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Brandon Bass, but none played particularly well in their limited action. Rondo registered the most minutes for the Celtics on Friday at 30 while Kevin Garnett played the least at 15.
Perhaps more importantly, Doc Rivers and company got their first in-game looks at their off-season signings and rookies. Boston's rookies looked impressive, specifically Jared Sullinger. The rookie big man scored 16 points and collected eight rebounds while swatting a shot in 26 minutes of action.
While Fenerbahce does have a few NBA prospects on their club, such as Bojan Bogdanovic and Ilkan Karaman, it was Romain Sato who led the way. The guard scored 24 points on 8-15 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds.
