Dwyane Wade injury update: Heat star practices, may play Thursday

Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade, who has been dealing with a left-knee injury, appears to be making progress. Wade practiced Monday, and it looks like he will play in the Heat's preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday in Shanghai, China.

Wade is recovering from offseason surgery. He underwent the arthroscopic procedure July 9, and his initial timetable for recovery was four to six weeks. While his recovery has taken longer than originally expected, Monday's news likely means Wade will be ready for Miami's season opener against the Boston Celtics Oct. 30.

With lingering knee problems last season, Wade averaged 22 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. While those numbers were solid, they were down from his career averages of 25, five and six.
