The Mavs still need help in the front court with injuries to Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman. The signing of Troy Murphy should help.
Looking to shore up their front court with Dirk Nowitzki still out after knee surgery, the Dallas Mavericks reportedly went out and signed veteran forward Troy Murphy.

Murphy spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, playing in 59 games and averaging 3.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game. Now, Murphy may have found a home to play the 12th year of his professional career after spending time with the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors.
Chris Kaman could be back as early as Saturday's home opener against the Charlotte Bobcats, as he nurses a calf injury. The Mavericks signed veteran forward Eddy Curry earlier this week, as well, so Murphy's potential signing could point to the Mavs erring on the side of caution when it comes to bringing Kaman back. Curry played just 17 minutes against the Lakers in Dallas' season-opening victory on Tuesday. He spent just eight minutes on the floor against the Utah Jazz last night.
