Back issues have forced Spurs guard Manu Ginobili to miss the first two games of the season. He is expected back in the lineup on Saturday.
San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili will miss his second straight game as he continues to be bothered by a back injury. Ginobili missed half of the preseason, as well as the team's season-opening win Wednesday against the New Orleans Hornets, and he is not going to play Thursday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
His back has been such an issue that he did not even travel with the team to New Orleans.
Ginobili is expected back in the lineup this weekend when the team hosts the Utah Jazz on Saturday night. The team has just been cautious, and Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich says Ginobili "is really close" to being able to suit up again.
As Ginobili has not been able to practice at all this week, the team just wants to make sure his back is completely healed before he is back on the court.
