Minnesota Timberwolves guard Brandon Roy will miss Friday's game in what would have been his return to the Rose Garden in Portland as he is slated for knee surgery later this week, according to Jason Quick of the Oregonian in Portland.
Roy is no stranger to knee problems. Roy has dealt with knee issues his entire NBA career and has undergone several surgeries. He finally decided his ailments were too much to overcome prior to the 2011-2012 season and announced his retirement from the NBA. One year later, he decided to return to the league, but he was unable to return to the Portland Trail Blazers since they had released him under the amnesty clause.
He signed with the Timberwolves this past offseason. Through five games, Roy had averaged 5.8 points and 4.6 assists, playing more than 20 minutes in four of five contests. However, Roy's knee issues again cropped up, causing him to miss Minnesota's past four games.
