Two streaks were snapped on Monday night as the Denver Nuggets earned a 97-92 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, with Denver ending a three-game losing skid and Memphis losing their eight-game winning streak.
After a very close game between the teams that saw very few long runs and plenty of end-to-end action, the Nuggets finally managed to pull away at the end with a nine-point run thanks to two decisive turnovers. The dagger was a three-point shot sunk by Danilo Gallinari to push the Nuggets' lead to 96-92 with less than a minute left. Andre Iguodala added a free throw to finish the scoring.
Gallo was the leading scorer for the Nuggets in the win, putting up 26 points. Rudy Gay led the Grizzlies on the scoreboard with 22 points, but also led the team with four turnovers. Led by Kenneth Faried and JaVale McGee, the Nuggets had a big advantage on the boards all evening, with 47 rebounds to Memphis' 33.
