Mike D'Antoni will join his team for the first time on the sidelines since taking the job after the departure of Mike Brown.

Mike D'Antoni will coach the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets for the first time since being named the replacement for the fired Mike Brown, according to a tweet from ESPN The Radio's Beto Duran

D'Antoni is still recovering from a recent knee replacement surgery which has kept him from joining his team on the sidelines. Bernie Bickerstaff has coached the team since Mike Brown's departure and has gone 4-1 in that span.

D'Antoni has stayed off the sidelines due to the combination of pain, fatigue and medication draining him of the strength needed to go through an NBA game. There was also a concern of his ability to move out of the way just in case players came barreling into his direction.

The Lakers are 5-5 overall and have won their last two games. They are currently third in the Pacific Division behind the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors.
