The story before the game may have been Jeremy Lin facing his former team for the first time, but James Harden (33 points) and Chandler Parsons (31) quickly became the topic of discussion when the Rockets met the Knicks.
The New York Knicks began the season with eight wins in nine games, but suffered their worst loss of the season Friday in a 131-103 defeat at the hands of the Houston Rockets.
Former Knick Jeremy Lin, now a guard for Houston, was one of six Rockets in double figures. He finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists -- a well-balanced game for his first time out against his former club.
The 131 points the Knicks gave up was the most they have allowed in a game all season. Coming into Friday, they were third in the league in points allowed per game, giving up just 91.4 per contest.
James Harden (33) and Chandler Parsons (31) both had 30-plus point games to lead the Rockets. Houston also dominated on the boards, 49-30, led by 14 from Omer Asik.
The Knicks were paced by a stunning 37-point performance from Carmelo Anthony. He was 7 of 12 from three-point range.
Houston led by just three after the first quarter, but outscored the Knicks by 12 in the second to take a commanding 72-57 lead at halftime. The offensive onslaught continued from there for the Rockets, who notched 32 more in the third quarter.
Next up, the Knicks will look to end their first losing streak of the year when they host the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. The Rockets welcome the Toronto Raptors to town on Tuesday.
