Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale lost his daughter Sasha, 22, on Saturday.
The 22-year-old daughter of Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale died on Saturday. The cause is unknown, but McHale had taken an indefinite leave of absence earlier this month, with reports suggesting the health of his daughter was the issue. The Houston Chronicle's David Barron reported last week that the McHale family had been spending all of their time between a hospital and a hotel room, with the coach watching some of Houston's games on his computer.
It's not yet clear how much time McHale will take off to spend with his family. The Rockets released a statement from team owner Leslie Alexander expressing condolences to the McHales. The Rockets are 6-7 this season, and just came off of a big win over the New York Knicks.
McHale's in his second season coaching the Rockets. He left the Minnesota Timberwolves after a decade and a half in 2008.
