LeBron James injury: Heat star leaves with hurt leg

Robert Mayer-US PRESSWIRE

LeBron James limped to the locker room before half time after colliding with Josh Smith.

LeBron James has left the game in Atlanta, where the Miami Heat are trailing the Hawks at halftime, 46-42. The star was injured when he collided with Josh Smith late in the period. The two banged knees, leading to LeBron limping into the locker room early.

The extent of the injury was unclear, and it is not known whether LeBron will return in the second half. Prior to the injury, James had 13 points in 17 minutes for the Heat, with four rebounds, three assists and one steal. He had shot 6-for-10, and added one point on three free throw attempts.

Miami and Atlanta have been battling back and forth all night, with neither team securing any substantial lead. They were an even 25-25 after the first quarter, and the Hawks managed to scratch out a four point advantage in the second quarter. Anthony Morrow put in a big effort off the bench, coming up with 12 points.
