Lakers vs. Knicks results: Carmelo Anthony leads New York to 116-107 win

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

Carmelo Anthony put up 22 points in a 41-point first quarter for the New York Knicks, and they never looked back in a 116-107 victory.

The New York Knicks controlled the first thirty minutes of this game en route to a 116-107 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Knicks poured on 41 points in the first quarter, built up a 68-49 lead at halftime and held off a late Laker rally to win in pretty smooth fashion.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with an incredible performance, scoring 30 points on only 15 field goal attempts in just under 23 minutes of action. Anthony poured on 22 points in the first quarter to pace New York as he scorched Los Angeles's non-existent defense. Anthony did have to leave the game with an ankle injury in the third quarter.

Raymond Felton added 19 points and eight assists, Tyson Chandler and J.R. Smith put in 18 points each and Steve Novak added 12 points. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 31 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, although he had to play 44 minutes to get there. Dwight Howard added 20 points and seven rebounds, Metta World Peace scored 23 points, Devin Ebanks added 15 points, and Jodie Meeks put in 12 points.

The Lakers have lost their fourth straight game to drop to 9-14. The Knicks have won their third in a row to improve to 17-5.
