Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge sprained his left ankle in the final minute of his team's 95-94 win over New Orleans on Sunday. X-rays were negative, but Aldridge said he will undergo an MRI. The injury occurred when he landed on Hornets forward Ryan Anderson's foot.
"It’s hurting pretty bad," Aldridge said. "Can’t really walk on it. I’m on crutches until it starts feeling better."
Aldridge played 37 minutes against New Orleans, scoring 20 points on eight of 17 shooting. He has been a mainstay in the Trail Blazers' lineup, starting 22 games and averaging more than 38 minutes per contest this season. He leads the team in scoring with an average of 21 points per game and he's also pulling down eight rebounds per game.
Aldridge has started more than 400 games for the Trail Blazers over the course of his career.
Portland resumes play against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night.
