Ricky Rubio is active Monday night against the Orlando Magic but will be inactive Tuesday against the Miami Heat, as the Timberwolves look to slowly ease him back to full strength.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio will play Monday against the Orlando Magic but will likely be sidelined Tuesday against the Miami Heat, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Minnesota Star Tribune.

The Timberwolves aim to slowly ease Rubio back into Minnesota's rotation. Zgoda reports that part of that plan includes resting Rubio on the second day of back-to-back games, which is the case this Monday and Tuesday. Rubio agreed to this arrangement upon his return from an ACL injury that sidelined him for more than nine months.

In his first game back for the Timberwolves, Rubio's ball handling and passing skills shined as usual, most notably on one assist that went between his legs and his defenders' legs. He finished the night with eight points, nine assists, four rebounds and three steals in 18 minutes of action.

In 41 games for the Timberwolves last season, Rubio averaged 10.6 points, 8.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
