Steve Nash injury update: Lakers star hopes to play Saturday, according to report

USA TODAY Sports

The Lakers point guard might be back on Saturday for his first game since suffering a broken fibula Oct. 31.

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash hopes to return to the lineup on Saturday against the Golden State Warriors, Yahoo! Sports reported on Monday.

Silver Screen and Roll noted that Nash practiced in full for the first time since his injury Oct. 31. Nash and the Lakers initially thought he had a deep bone bruise, but a MRI revealed the break. Nash had a setback due to nerve irritation that has kept him out of the lineup for 23 games.

Nash's return will be the first game the point guard has played with coach Mike D'Antoni since the two were paired up back in their Phoenix Sun days. The Lakers play the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday but don't play again until Saturday, giving Nash three full practices to get back into the swing of things.

Nash is averaging 4.5 points and four assists per game but only played in the first two games of the season, totaling just 50 minutes of floor time this season for the 38-year-old.
