The Grizzlies outlasted the Mavericks to earn a 92-82 victory. O.J. Mayo, in his first game against Memphis since leaving in the offseason, was held to 10 points while shooting 3-11 from the field.
The Memphis Grizzlies spoiled the return of O.J. Mayo to Memphis, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 92-82. Mayo signed with the Mavericks this past offseason after spending the first four years of his career with the Grizzlies. Memphis drafted Mayo third overall in the 2008 NBA Draft, but allowed him to leave for free agency. The Grizzlies held Mayo to 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting, with Mayo being held without a field goal until well into the third quarter.
The Grizzlies held control throughout most of the contest despite multiple strong runs by the Mavericks to keep it close. Memphis responded each time Dallas surged, and received strong performances from multiple players. Rudy Gay led all scorers with 26 points, while adding five rebounds, four steals and two assists. Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph each notched a double-double. Gasol ended with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Randolph added 17 points and 13 rebounds. Mike Conley narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine points to go along with his 11 assists.
Shawn Marion led the Mavericks with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
