Spurs vs. Mavericks final score: San Antonio dominates, 129-91

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Dirk Nowitzki played for the first time since having knee surgery as the Spurs dominated in a severely lopsided game.

The return of Dirk Nowitzki did little to pull the Dallas Mavericks out of a seven-game skid, as he scored just eight points in a 129-91 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

The Mavericks (12-16) trailed 64-52 at the half before falling to pieces offensively in the second half. With the Mavericks putting just 14 points on the board in the third quarter, the Spurs built a sizable lead by adding 36 of their own in the frame. The Spurs (21-8) shot 56 percent from the floor in the 38-point win, as Dallas was powerless to stop a suddenly-hot San Antonio team.

Nowitzki, returning after missing two months following knee surgery, was minus-23 in 20 minutes off the bench on Sunday night, going 3-of-4 from the floor and grabbing six rebounds on the night. The Mavericks starters struggled on the night, as Chris Kaman was the only non-bench player to get more than 10 points on the night.

Tim Duncan had just 15 points in 23 minutes the Spurs, and Danny Green led the team with 25 points on 7-of-8 shooting from long distance. The Spurs next face the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, Dec. 26.
