The Clippers will try to extend their winning streak to 15 games in a row against the Boston Celtics, coming off a strong Christmas Day performance in a victory over the Brooklyn Nets, and the Mavericks take on the Thunder on Thursday.
The Los Angeles Clippers, winners of 14 straight games as the season heads toward the new year, will headline Thursday night's NBA action at home in the Staples Center against the Boston Celtics.
The winning streak has vaulted the Clippers (22-6) into sole possession of the league's best record, capped off with a victory on Christmas Day against the Denver Nuggets. The Celtics were also victorious on Christmas Day, topping the Brooklyn Nets, 93-76, in perhaps Boston's best performance of the young NBA season.
The Celtics currently occupy the Eastern Conference's No. 7 seed, while the Clippers moved ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the top spot in the Western Conference, as the Thunder have lost two straight.
The Thunder are just underway in a meeting with the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night in Oklahoma City, where the Mavericks aim to rebound from a crushing 38-point loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Dec. 23, the last time they hit the court.
