Dallas forced overtime on a last-second shot, but the Thunder were able to come away with the 111-105 victory on Thursday.

Behind 40 points from Kevin Durant, the Oklahoma City Thunder were able to hang on for an 111-105 overtime win against Dallas on Thursday.

The Mavericks got off to a good start and led 29-21 after the first quarter thanks in large part to 14 first quarter points from Darren Collison. Durant brought the Thunder back in the second quarter with Dallas leading, 45-43, at halftime. Dallas opened the fourth quarter up eight points, but once again, Durant had an answer. He scored 13 points during the fourth quarter to bring the Thunder all the way back and give them a 96-95 lead.

After misses by Durant and Westbrook, Dallas had a chance to take the lead back, but O.J. Mayo lost the ball and Russell Westbrook was able to recover with just 5.3 seconds to play. Two Durant free throws put OKC up 98-95 and the Thunder appeared in position to win, but Collison tied the game with an off-balanced one-footed three pointer as time expired.

Dallas opened the overtime period on a 6-3 run, but Westbrook took over for the Thunder. He scored the next six points, giving Oklahoma City a 107-104 lead. After scoring just eight points in regulation, Westbrook finished overtime with eight points.

Durant led all scorers with 40 points. While he made just 13 of 28 shots from the floor, he was a perfect 10 of 10 at the free throw line. Both Westbrook and Serge Ibaka recorded double-doubles for Oklahoma City. Ibaka scored 19 points to go with 17 rebounds, and Westbrook scored 16 points and dished out 10 assists.

Collison finished with a season-high 32 points to lead the Mavericks. Dirk Nowitzki scored nine points in his second game since returning from injury. Dallas dropped to 0-5 in overtime games this season.
