LeBron James had a big year, winning an NBA title, MVP honors and an Olympic gold medal.

Miami Heat forward LeBron James is Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year. James led the Heat to the 2012 NBA title and also helped the U.S. men's basketball team win gold at the Summer Olympics.

He averaged 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game during the 2011-12 season, earning league MVP honors in the process; it was the third time he'd been named MVP during his career. He averaged more than 30 points per game during postseason play, eventually earning Finals MVP honors. The Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games, and James recorded a triple-double in the series-clinching game.

For Team USA, James averaged 13.3 points per game and shot 60.3 percent from the field; he scored 19 points and snagged seven rebounds in the team's win over Spain in the gold medal game. Team USA finished the London Olympics 8-0 -- it was the only undefeated team in the field.
