Steve Blake injury: Lakers PG to miss 6-8 weeks

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

Steve Blake will miss the next 6-8 weeks due to a torn abdominal muscle.

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Blake will miss the next 6-8 weeks as he will undergo laproscopic surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle.

Blake has missed the last 10 games due to the injury that he suffered on Nov. 11 in a 103-90 win over the Sacramento Kings. Before the injury, Blake had started five consecutive games in place of the injured Steve Nash. Nash has missed all but two games this season with a shin injury.

Blake is averaging 5.1 points, 3.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds on 35.3 percent shooting from the field this season.

Darius Morris, a second-year player out of Michigan, has started the last 10 games in place of Blake and is averaging 5.9 points, 2.5 assists and 1.7 rebounds on 37.2 percent shooting from the field this season.

The Lakers are 8-9 this season and have lost two of their last three games including a 113-103 loss to the Orlando Magic at home on Sunday.
